| RSV |
This is to notify you that a case of RSV (respiratory syncytical virus) has developed in our child care.
Symptoms:Symptoms to look for in your child are coughing, fast breathing, wheezing and having a hard time breathing. Actions: If your child contracts RSV they may be given Tylenol if a fever is present. (DO NOT give aspirin.) For an infant, raise the head of the crib. To clear stuffy nose to aid in breathing, buy saline nose drops or stir 1/4 teaspoon salt into 1/2 cup water. Lay the child on the back and put two to three drops of saline into the nose. Wait about 1/2 minute and suction the nose with a bulb syringe. Do this especially before eating and sleeping. Children should be excluded from daycare until they have been without a fever for 24 hours, feed normally and feel well enough to participate in the usual activities. Thank you for your support. By working together we can keep all our children healthy. Find more information about RSV at the Centers for Disease Control at http://www.cdc.gov/health/ |
