| Influenza |
This is to notify you that there has been an outbreak of influenza ("the flu") in our child care.
Symptoms:Symptoms to look for in your child are fever, headache, tiredness, dry cough, sore throat, nasal congestion, and body aches. Symptoms start 1 to 4 days after the virus enters the body. A child can spread the flu starting one day before he/she feels sick. Children can spread the virus for longer than 7 days. Actions: If your child contracts influenza, you should make sure he/she gets plenty of rest and drinks plenty of liquids. You can also give your child medication (that contain no aspirin) to relieve the flu-like symptoms. Giving aspirin to children who have influenza can cause a rare but serious illness called Reye syndrome. Since influenza is caused by a virus, antibiotics (like penicillin) don't work to cure it. Thank you for your support. By working together we can keep all our children healthy. Find more information about Influenza at the Centers for Disease Control at http://www.cdc.gov/health/ |
