| Head Lice |
This is to notify you that a case of head lice has developed in our child care.
Symptoms:Symptoms to look for in your child are intense itching and scratching especially at the back of the neck or scalp. You may see lice crawling on the hair or scalp. You may also see nits (eggs), which are small, round, white specks attached to the hair close to the scalp. Nits are often found at the hairline, above the neck and behind the ears. They may look like dandruff but not flake off. Actions: If your child develops these symptoms, buy an over-the-counter lice-killing shampoo. (Check with your doctor before using this on a child under two.) Follow the instructions on the bottle. Use a special nit comb to remove all the nits. You may need to use a tweezers or your fingernails to remove some of them. Check for nits every day for seven days. Teach children not to share combs and hats. A child should not return to daycare until treatment is completed with the lice-killing shampoo. Thank you for your support. By working together we can keep all our children healthy.
