| Earache |
This is to notify you that a child in our child care has developed an earache.
Symptoms:Symptoms to look for in your child are that they may persistently tug at their ear, have a fever, be irritable and be unable to hear well. These symptoms may be accompanied by diarrhea, nausea and vomiting. Actions: If your child develops an earache, Tylenol may be given to relieve the pain and reduce the fever. Keep the child’s head elevated and drink plenty of fluids. (The act of swallowing helps to keep the tubes open and relieves the pain.) A doctor should be seen to check for ear infection. If infection is present, antibiotics will be prescribed and should be taken until completed. Your child should be excluded from daycare if there is a fever, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea present until these conditions are gone, otherwise only if your child is too ill to participate in normal activities. If there is an ear infection your child may return after 24 hours of starting antibiotics. Thank you for your support. By working together we can keep all our children healthy.
