Good nutrition is important throughout our entire life. Adult Care centers receive reimbursements for meals and snacks served to eligible adult participants. Providers Choice supports adult care programs from initial onboarding through claim submission to ensure maximum program reimbursement.

What is the Food Program?

The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program through the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). Adult Care centers that sign up to participate, serve healthy meals and snacks to the adult participants in their care and receive financial reimbursements.

Who is eligible to participate?

Any licensed non-profit adult care center
Any licensed for-profit adult care center where at least 25% of the enrolled participants in attendance each month are Medical Assistance/Medicaid eligible
Eligible centers must provide non-residential community-based group care services to functionally impaired adults, or persons 60 years of age or older
Eligible centers must provide a variety of health, social and related support services to enrolled adult participants who are over the age of 60

How much can I earn?

Payment amount will depend on the type and number of meals you serve, the number of participants in care and the income of the participant households. Reimbursement rates are updated every July and are determined by USDA.

Adult Care centers may claim up to two meals and a snack or two snacks and a meal per adult participant per day.

FAQs

Adult Care claims are submitted at the end of each month and paid on a monthly basis.

At the end of each month you will submit your claim to Providers Choice. Providers Choice submits claims weekly to the Minnesota Department of Education (MDE). Once claims have been submitted to MDE, they are typically paid the following week on Friday.
